Sika Sika-1: Permanent Waterproofing Solution for Your Concrete and Mortar

Sika Sika-1 is an easy-to-use liquid admixture that permanently enhances the waterproofing performance of cement-based mortars and concrete. Thanks to its special formulation, when added to concrete and mortar mixes, it fills capillary voids, preventing water absorption and providing resistance against water. It can be safely used in structural elements constantly exposed to moisture and water, such as foundations, basements, retaining walls, bathrooms, and kitchens. Sika-1 will be an indispensable part of your construction projects due to its ease of application and long-lasting effect.

The product's unique structure creates a water-repellent matrix within the concrete and mortar during cement hydration. This ensures a homogeneous waterproofing shield not just on the surface, but throughout the entire cross-section of the material. Sika Sika-1 maintains its effectiveness even in areas exposed to positive water pressure, preventing moisture and water leakages. Its economical 20 kg packaging offers a wide range of uses, from large-scale projects to small-scale repair jobs.

Choose Sika Sika-1 waterproofing admixture to extend the life of your structure, prevent moisture-related deterioration, and create healthy living spaces. With reliable Sika quality, provide permanent protection against the destructive effects of water.

  • Application Temperature: Between +5°C and +30°C
  • Application Area: Concrete, screed and plaster mortars
  • Foundation and basement walls
  • Retaining walls and concrete diaphragms
  • Wet areas (bathrooms, kitchens, toilets)
  • Water tanks and cisterns (not suitable for surfaces in contact with potable water)
  • Swimming pools and decorative ponds
  • Screeds for roof terraces and balconies
  • Underground car park floors
  • Canals and drainage systems

  • Concrete pipes and precast concrete elements
  • Underground structures and tunnels

Preparation Before Application:

  1. The cement, sand, and aggregate to be used must be clean, dust-free, and of suitable granulometry.
  2. The amount of mixing water should be adjusted according to the desired consistency; a slight reduction in water requirement may occur with the addition of Sika-1.
  3. Shake Sika-1 well before use.

Mixing Instructions:

  1. For Mortar and Plaster: Add Sika-1 to the mixing water for concrete or mortar and mix until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Then add this water to the dry mix and continue mixing using standard methods. Never pour directly onto dry cement.
  2. For Concrete: Add Sika-1 to the pre-measured mixing water. Add this mixed water to the dry aggregate and cement mixture and mix in a concrete mixer until sufficient homogeneity is achieved.
  3. The dosage is 1.0% – 3.0% by weight of cement. For example, use 0.5 – 1.0 kg of Sika-1 for a 50 kg bag of cement.
  4. The recommended mixing time is a minimum of 3-5 minutes for concrete and 2-3 minutes for mortar.

Post-Application Care:

  1. Concrete and mortar containing Sika-1 must be protected from direct sunlight, wind, and frost during the curing period.
  2. Methods such as curing blankets or water spraying can be used to keep the surface moist.
  • Skin and Eye Contact: Avoid direct contact with the product. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
  • Inhalation: Use in well-ventilated areas. Avoid inhaling vapors.
  • Protective Equipment: Wear gloves, protective eyewear, and appropriate work clothing during application.
