BoardeX Alkali Resistant Plaster Mesh
Alkali-Resistant Render Mesh for Strong, Crack-Free Facades
BoardeX Alkali Resistant Render Mesh
High-Strength Reinforcement Solution for Exterior Façade Systems
BoardeX Alkali-Resistant Render Mesh is a fiberglass reinforcement mesh developed to enhance the mechanical strength of cement-based renders applied over exterior sheathing systems and to minimize the risk of surface cracking. With its 160 g/m² weight and engineered structure, it ensures uniform stress distribution within the render layer and maintains long-term system performance.
Exterior façades are exposed to temperature fluctuations, moisture movement, wind loads, and structural vibrations. These factors can create stress within the render layer over time. BoardeX Render Mesh absorbs and distributes these stresses, preventing crack formation and ensuring surface integrity.
Technical Properties and Structural Advantages
-
Alkali-Resistant Fiberglass Structure: Engineered to withstand the high pH levels of cement-based plasters.
-
160 g/m² Weight: Provides high mechanical strength and long-term durability.
-
4x4 mm Mesh Size: Ensures optimal bonding and load distribution within the render layer.
-
High Tensile Strength: Prevents propagation of micro-cracks.
-
Dimensional Stability: Minimally affected by temperature and humidity variations.
Compared to standard fiberglass meshes, its alkali-resistant coating prevents deterioration over time and extends the lifespan of the façade system.
Areas of Application
BoardeX Alkali-Resistant Render Mesh is suitable for:
-
Exterior sheathing systems
-
External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS)
-
Cement-based render applications
-
Soffit and façade detail solutions
-
High-performance façade cladding systems
It should be applied together with GRIO BoardeX Base Coat or equivalent polymer-modified cement-based render systems.
Application Guidelines
-
Apply the first layer of render onto the surface.
-
Place the mesh onto the fresh render from top to bottom.
-
Embed the mesh fully into the render using a trowel.
-
Position the mesh close to the outer surface layer.
-
Provide a minimum 10 cm overlap at joints.
-
After curing, apply the second render coat to complete the system.
Proper installation is essential to ensure long-term system performance.

Why Should Alkali-Resistant Plaster Mesh Be Used?
Cement-based plasters have high alkalinity. Standard fiberglass reinforcements can lose strength over time due to exposure to this chemical effect. However, the alkali-resistant BoardeX Plaster Mesh, thanks to its special coating, resists this chemical effect and maintains system performance for a long time.
In exterior facade systems, durability is achieved not only with the coating material but also with the reinforcement products used. Therefore, choosing the right plaster mesh is a critical element in reducing the risk of cracks and ensuring long-lasting facade performance.
